JML workout bar September 9, 2010 AM90 Pros: Good value for money and easy to assemble with the provided tool. A great piece of multiple use equipment to use for a variety of upper body exercises.
Cons: Just be aware that it doesn't perfectly fit every single door frame as it ideally needs one with a good wall depth. Its loose on the door frame I use but it still works ok and the recently painted door frame isn't damaged at all.
It does as in the TV September 7, 2010 Jacqueline L M (UK) My son is very happy with this thing. The size just fits the door frame although some of the reviews said it didn't fit all kinds of door frame. We are the lucky ones. It does as we have seen in the TV ad.
Decent enough design..... September 6, 2010 P. Albinus (Cardiff) .....If it had actually fit on my door. Unfortunately my door frame is too wide for this product. This means I can't do any pull ups or sit ups using this. It advertises dips as 1 of the exersises, yet it claiming that is ridiculous. Way to low for Tricep dips! So all I can use it for is press ups, so all in in, a poor purchase for me.
Excellent product - I would recommend to anyone keen on getting fit September 5, 2010 Clare Chivers (England) I really cannot recommend the 'Iron Gym' bar. After seeing the advert, I was a little sceptical, but on seeing it in my friend's house, I decided that I would go ahead and buy it, seeing as it wasn't too expensive.
It was easy to assemble and attach to the door. Be careful, however, that your door's lip is wide enough for it to attach safely - but it should fit nearly any door. My house is reasonably old, so one or two of the doors don't fit it, but this shouldn't be a major concern.
It is truly excellent for pull-ups and chin-ups. This is, I would say, the main feature, and there is no problem attaching it to the door and starting. With some similar products, it is difficult to perform a pull-up and you have to be careful not to bang your head as you pull yourself up, but that isn't an issue here.
The sit-ups work pretty well - if you hook your toes around the bar it works well and as intended.
The press-up feature is useful and prevents you hurting your wrists as is occasionally the case if you do a large number on the ground.
However, the dips features is not so good. It's just an extra selling point really - you can't get any depth and have to do really shallow dips. But there is nothing wrong with using a chair...
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the bar to anyone interested - it beats any other products on price (they do get quite expensive, and you don't get anything else), and the quality isn't to be sniffed at. The only thing I would say is that the foam grips do get very sweaty after lots of use - but this is easily solved by taping some card or paper around the grips - and that feels perfectly comfortable. This is not a major problem - and having the foam grips is a definite improvement on other products, where the metal bar hurts after lots of use.
I'm very pleased with this, and I'm sure you will be too.
Good value September 4, 2010 Steven (SE England) The foam on the handles has already deformed/almost worn away from pressing in to the door frame. Does not really affect its use through, just my door frame paintwork.
The up side is that I am now totally ripped so can put on my vest, show off my body and repaint with pride.
This is a breeze to put up, no drilling or DIY skills needed. I have a door frame sticking up at about 2 inches and this feels very secure.
Pressups, dips and situps also good to do with this bar.
