 Excellent But Extra Work Needed September 9, 2010

I have just got the anysharp sharpener - It's described as a method of 4 strokes to sharpen any knife. However, the truth is: It will sharpen any knife that has already been sharpened by only 4 strokes. If you need to sharpen a knife from the beginning, you have to "re-profile" the knife - that will take more than 4 strokes - you will have to profile the angle of the knife according to your wrist movement and sharpen it from there - once you do, it will be easy to keep the knife sharp because the Anysharp does work well.

This is a great little sharpener. I was shocked by how small it is at first but it works a treat and fits neatly into a kitchen drawer.

im a chef and brought this item thinking that as it says the worlds best knife sharpner that it may be good. oh how i was wrong this sharpner counldnt sharpen a thing all my knives were exactly the same once sharpened as they were when i began a complete waste of [...] please if your thinkning of buying this item DON'T by an ordinary steel they work 10X better than this ever will.
one good use for this tho is a book stop as it does stick well to the table top ill give them that

When the sharpener first arrived it didn't look much, but having used it regularly for some weeks it is definitely up to the job, one of my better purchases. Being small does have its advantages because its easy to store. A great kitchen accompanyment.

This is a fantastic little knife sharpener. I've used a range of methods for sharpening knives over the years and have found this item to give the best edge, as well as being easy and convenient to use. It's compact and lightweight, and the sucker action that clamps it to the counter top works superbly, allowing you to keep the blade at the correct angle for optimim sharpening.
This sharpener really shaves the blade if you press hard, with metal shavings piling up on the blade, so be careful. If your blade is blunt to begin with though, this allows you to get it to a reasonable edge without re-grinding. However, once the blade is in a half decent state the manufacturer recommends a much lighter touch to get a truly sharp edge. And it works - 3-4 gentle sweeps and knives are kept super-sharp. Works brilliantly on high-carbon blades too.
All in all a really cleverly designed knife sharpener and fantastic value too. Highly recommended.
